Nanoscale Ferroelectrics for Oxide Nanoelectronics

Tildelt: kr 5,6 mill.

The ultimate goal for the present proposal is to achieve novel materials with controlled properties for future NEMS and nanoelectronic devices. The proposal aims for a fundamental understanding of nano-sized perovskite systems and is based on exploratory materials research into artificial perovskites with controlled properties. Furthermore, research into nanoscale templating and etching will be carried out in order to achieve bottom-up processes for the direct growth of laterally confined materials. Scann ing probes are to be used in order to control and investigate the physical properties of low-dimensional ferroelectrics. The aim is to build on the existing research activity I conduct in Trondheim based on funding from NANOMAT via the nationally coordina ted project "Oxides for Future Information and Communication Technology", proj. number 158518/431 (1 PhD student as adviser, and two as co-adviser), and from NTNU, project number 81150600 (1 PhD student), in order to obtain synergy effects.
