Hydrogen storage in metal hydrides based on magnesium

Tildelt: kr 5,6 mill.

One major unsolved problem for the introduction of hydrogen into the global energy system is storage of hydrogen. The present proposal concerns metal hydrides based on magnesium, an important group of metal hydrides where improved hydrogen storage propert ies are anticipated. The focus is on the key challenges related to kinetical and thermodynamical properties that must be overcome to develop magnesium-based hydrides into hydrogen storage materials of real interest for the transportation sector. The proje ct is a collaboration between Institute for Energy Technology (Physics Department), University of Oslo (Department of Chemistry / Centre for Materials Science and Nanotechnology) and SINTEF (Materials and Chemistry).
