International collaborations with research groups in reliable and secure communication

This project will maintain and extend the collaboration between world leading international research groups in coding theory, cryptology and wireless communication and the Selmer Center at the University of Bergen. The research group at the Selmer Center has been doing international research in coding theory and cryptology for more than three decades and consists presently of 12 researchers and 12 doctoral students and frequent international visitors. The to maintain the international network of research contacts by: (1) Invite international researchers to visit the Selmer Center for shorter and longer stays for joint research collaborations and for giving lectures and short advanced courses in the area of their expertise. (2) To encourage and make it po ssible for researchers at the Selmer Center to visit leading international research group for boosting joint ongoing research and to develop and start new joint research activities. (3) To enable the researchers at the Selmer Center to present their resea rch papers at international conferences. (4) To organize international workshops in coding theory, cryptology and in wireless communication. During the planned project period (2006-2009), the Selmer Center aims to: - Invite leading international resear chers for visits, guest lectures and advanced courses. - Visit international research groups to maintain and start new collaborations. - Organize at least one major international conference in coding theory or cryptography. - Organize at least one nationa l conference with leading international researchers as lecturers. - Publish more than 60 papers in leading international refereed journals and at conferences. - Present at least 32 papers at international conferences. - Publish at least 20 papers with int ernational co-authors.
