Comfort properties of timber floor constructions

Tildelt: kr 4,4 mill.

The research approach utilized in the project consists of work along four parallels; analysis of former measurements and studies, numerical modelling, analytical modelling and experimental work. Verification and evaluation of results form the fifth work p ackage of this study. The work will be coordinated so that both the numerical and analytical work influence on the experimental programme and hence use the tests as basis for verification. The experimental programme will be so chosen that it cover promisi ng and interesting floor construction design for the projects industrial partners. This project will make use of frontiers of knowledge presented in the project description and develop both relevant simulation methods and experimental methods. The iterat ion between the different work packages is of major importance and will generate new knowledge at this item. The project is planning with one PhD student with work on numerical modelling and the test programme associated with this activity. We will also a ssign MSc students to this project at the involved universities. Project partners are NBI, NTNU and UMB. Beside the project partners, a reference group will regularly suggest content and evaluate the project. These will contribute with their expertise an d experience in areas in which the partners are expecially involved. The project is an important facet of NBI's continuous development and revision of the Building Research Design Sheets and product documentation. The results will also be used as a basis for the preparation and updating of textbooks and teaching materials for Norwegian universities and colleges associated with the project.
