Retinopathy and AMD in a general population. The Tromsø Study 2007.

Tildelt: kr 1,4 mill.

The Tromsø VI survey is scheduled to take place October 2007- through 2008. A total of 11,000 - 16,000 adults in Tromsø will be invited (depending on funding). Many of those have participated in previous surveys, and data from those surveys will be used f or longitudinal analyses. As a subproject, we will offer fundus photography to all participants above the age of 50 years. The photographs will be stored and analysed for diabetic retinopathy, hypertensive retinopathy, and age related macula degeneration. Several doctorate projects are proposed, and this research project will make a contribution to translational research between clinical ophthalmology, atherosclerosis research, basic research of macula degeneration, and cardiovascular epidemiology.
