Microwave studies of unsaturated compounds with hetero atoms, as well as molecules of interstellar and prebiotic interest

An application is made for a 2 years post doc position. The cooperation will primarily be between our lab in Oslo and with the lab of Directeur de Recherche CNRS, Dr. Jean-Claude Guillemin in Rennes, France. Directeur de Recherche CRNS, Dr. Jean Demaison, Lille, will also take part in this cooperation, but to a lesser extent. We intend to study several unsaturated selenols, thiols, phosphines and tellurides. Most of these compounds have been synthesized by Guillemin, often for the first time. There is l ittle or no information available of the physical properties of these unsaturated compounds, which should be of general chemical interest. We also intend to study compounds of astrochemical and astrobiological interest. These compoudns will be made by Gui llemin. Microwave spectroscopy is employed in these studies, because the radioastronomical detection is in most cases made using such spectra. We have also planned to investigate N2O3, a compound of atmospheric interest, in collaboration with Demaison. An investigation of the microwave spectrum of thioformaldehyde, an known astrochemical compund, is also planned in collaboration with Demaison and a group at Creteil, Paris.
