High-Power Solid-State Lithium Batteries

Tildelt: kr 1,7 mill.

The main objective of the project is to develop thin film technology for Li-conducting solid electrolytes that will open for major advances in Li-batteries towards their final incorporation in hybrid vehicles or zero emission technology. The background fo r this research and development opportunity is a rather unique combination of competences from academia and industry. The University of Oslo will by use of its Atomic Layer Deposition methodology and INTEX/Patinor through their nanostructured amorphous ca rbon packaging and protective coatings, focus joint efforts on integrating thin Li-conducting oxide films into the very structure of flat Li-batteries. Once successful, this will open up, first for microbattery applications, later for automotive applicati ons. The project will be performed in collaboration between Norwegian and US research/industry communities. Vision: To provide thin film structures that opens up for new Li-battery technology
