Security infrastructure for the open source EUX2010 VoIP system

The project will address security and trust in business-critical enterprise VoIP/PBX/multimedia solutions based on open standards and free/open source software. One goal is to develop a viable security architecture/framework fulfilling the security needs of lager enterprises and public organisations. There will be a trade-off between security, scalability, and quality of service that will be analysed in the project together with other security matters, e.g., related to integration between VoIP systems and other systems present in large enterprises. Trustworthiness of business models for free/open source software in VoIP enterprise solutions will also be analyzed in the project and case studies will be run, taking place at a large public end-user organisat ion. The project plan for one Ph.D. student. Results will be disseminated at meetings, seminars and scientific conferences. Industry partners in the EUX2010SEC BIP project are Linpro AS (project owner), Élla Kommunikasjon AS, Voop AS, Mopo AS, Ibidium No rden AS, Cybercom AS, Freecode AS, and Nimsoft. All these companies have products and services around VoIP based on open source products as a main business objective. The project includes participants from one large user (Buskerud Fylkeskommune), and rese arch (Norsk Regnesentral and UNI-MERIT, Maastricht). The project is anchored in the newly formed EUX2010 European network where researchers regularly meet representatives from open source PBX/VoIP developers, integrators/deployers, consultants, support o rganizations, and customers. The network has as a goal to develop standardized open source software for business-critical, and large scale enterprise solutions AND to develop eko-system and value chain around, in order to support the solution.
