The main topic of my work is the functional in vivo analysis of certain mouse mutants I have generated over the past few years. Doing so, it is of fundamental importance to interact with other scientific partners worldwide who offers me screening methods and lab expertise which is not available in my own lab or close by. These kind of scientific interactions are absolutely essential to push projects on a level where results are publishable in high impact journals. During my time in Hannover, Germany, I al ready have established numbers of international collaborations fulfilling exactly these criteria and finally ended up in numbers of publications (see publication list). It is my understanding that the intention of the BILAT program is to support interna tional interaction between laboratories in Norway and the USA, in order to support scientists in Norway but also to make Norwegian science more international recognizable. I am pretty much convinced that the proposed collaborations (see project outline) a re perfectly matching to this intention. All three partners (Prof. Jorge Moscat, Prof. Robert Farese and Prof. Alan Fields) are well recognized scientists in the field and provide tools and expertise which are essential for the individual projects.
