NORTRASHIP - Norwegian Transformations in Shipping: The dynamics and competitiveness of the Norwegian maritime cluster

Norway is one of the world's leading maritime nations, with a role in the maritime industries that far exceeds what one would expect based on shares of world population or trade. The project analyses the factors that have enabled the country to attain thi s position, with particular emphasis on the dynamics and competitiveness of the Norwegian maritime cluster. Through a combination of macro (sector) and micro (business) studies, the project analyses aspects such as networks, ownership, innovation and mark et strategies. The project will increase our knowledge of the forces that have enabled Norway to become one of the leading international maritime centres and to evaluate how this position can be maintained and strengthened. The analysis will be performed both from the perspective of Norway's historical and current advantages and from an international perspective.
