Hvilke mekanismer styrer materialvalget for større urbane byggverk?

Tildelt: kr 2,4 mill.

In the autumn of 2006 SINTEF Byggforsk carried out a pre-project work entitled:"Wood in towns - which mechanisms decide what materials are to be used in major urban building constructions?" (Time et al, 2007). The pre-project work was divided into two s ubsidiary activities: The aim of Subsidiary activity A was to study official framework terms and conditions: what guidelines (opportunities and limitations) are included in the planning and development regulations. The aim of Subsidiary activity B was to study key players in the building process and their criteria for choosing materials, who these key players are, and what are the main considerations for the choice of material made by the various players. The pre-project work showed that the research questions associated with subsidiary activity B in particular seemed to be especially promising and well worth pursuing in a main project. This main project will therefore concentrate on the following research questions: 1.Which players are responsibl e for the choice of materials and which of these have the greatest influence on the choice? 2.Which criteria form the basis of choice of material in urban building and which criteria have the greatest impact on the various players? 3.What is the know ledge situation among key players regarding the use of wood? In the main project we will carry out considerably more interviews with key players as well as broader questionnaire surveys among the most important player groups. The project will also requi re case studies of planning and building processes. The project is to be conducted by SINTEF Byggforsk and will be executed as a co-operation between this institute, the Norwegian Institute of Wood Technology and a reference group from the wood/timber in dustry. The research results will constitute useful market knowledge for the wood/timber industry, and will also provide important input for the development of improved wood products.
