A) Development scenarios for the parks will mainly be specified in meetings/interviews with local stakeholder representatives. The current situation will be described and applied as Scenario I. The meetings will also help specifying a Scenario II - a rela tively 'low impact' type of increased facility development, and Scenario III - a relatively 'high impact' type of increased facility development. Communication with local stakeholders will also involve assessment of attitudes towards alternative scenarios , including perceived rights and possible exchange of rights. The results will also serve as input to a visitor survey and a survey of the general public in Norway. B) A visitor survey will be carried out among tourists in Nasjonalparkriket. The survey wi ll comprise both tourists' use of existing facilities and what they perceive as lacking/desired. Both small-scale and large-scale developments will be assessed, giving the visitors the possibility to indicate other facilities and products than those propo sed by local stakeholders. Another purpose is to distribute shares of the tourists among development scenarios I, II and III. The result will also serve as input to the survey of the general public. C) An ecological impact assessment will include listing of areas where there is potential conflict between tourism and nature protection, specifying types of impacts and mitigating options. The assessment will be based on the specification of development scenarios I, II or III. D) A regional economic impact as sessment will be based on tourist/visitor expenditure in business activities close to the park entries and commercial tourism activities in the larger areas surrounding the national parks. E) An internet-based survey of the Norwegian population will aim t o scrutinise public attitudes towards park management and tourism development. The questionnaire will build on the above-mentioned surveys. F) The results from the above-mentioned studies will be collocated.
