In cooperation with Petromaks develop projects on Russian Environmental Standards. Russia has over many years developed "Maximum Permissible Levels" (MPL)for a number of contaminants, chemical and physical topics in water, soil and biota. These standards are base for their national environmental monitoring programs and their environmental impact assessments. This is the reality the international oil industry will meet when operation in Russian waters, and the there is devloped a regime for economical comp enastions if the MPL are exxceeded. This system is not much known to the industry, and may be very expensive, or even create problems for the company (Sakhalin). The Russian side suggest a coperation with Akvaplan-niva to develop these standards. Several russian institutes will be partners
