Exploring the antecedents of market orientation in expanding and transitional economic circumstances needs a significantly different approach than investigating it in developed economies with relatively low market, technological turbulence and modest comp etitive intensity. My research focuses on the theoretical explanation, establishment and empirical validation of the effects of the competitive environment on the market orientation-performance relationship in a Central European emerging economy.
