3rd International Conference on Compartmentalized cAMP Signaling (jointly with FEBS Workshop on Spatiotemporal Dynamics of Cell Signaling)

Tildelt: kr 0,15 mill.

There is a need for European and international scientists in the area of cell signaling to get together and bring attention to new subjects such as spatiotemporal organization, compartmentalized cAMP and modeling of signaling. Furthermore, European scient ists should get together for networking to strengthen their competitiveness. To our knowledge there is no similar meeting with this focus planned in Europe in the next 18 months. The 3rd Int Conference will be 2 days Wed 27 Sept to Thur Sept 28 and the FEBS workshop 2.5 days from Friday (30 Sept) to Sunday lunch (2 Oct) at the Norwegian Medical Association's venue site Soria Moria Hotel in Oslo with excellent conference facilities. There will be 3 daily sessions each with 3 invited speakers and 2 shorte r talks of 10 minutes selected from registered abstracts and poster sessions. Total, approx. 18 invit lectures and 10 short talks in the 3rd. Int cAMP Confernce (dependent on financing) and approx. 24 invited lectures in the Workshop, in addition to poste r sessions. All the registered participants will have the opportunity to submit abstracts and present posters. Since this is organized as a compacted meeting where all the participants live in the same hotel as the conference facilities are localized in, outside the University campus and city center positioned on top of the hill behind Oslo, the environment facilitates informal interactions and possibility to establish new collaborations etc. All abstracts will be printed in a separate abstract book. The applicant has experience from organizing 10 European/international workshops and conferences on cell signalling and functional genomics topics sponsored by FEBS, EMBO, ESF, Nobel foundation, Novo, ASBMB. Previous FEBS / EMBO workshops organized in 2006 a nd 2008 were significantly oversubscribed. We apply for funding for the 3. Int. Conference that rotates US/Europe (previously Berlin and Portland). We will request FEBS and ESF funding for Workshop-part as before.
