How to control Anthriscus sylvestris: Biological measures and societal efforts

During the last 50-60 years several reports states that A. sylvestris is aggressively establishing in grassland in Norway. Now it is established in grassland in most of the country and some rural districts is said to be completely covered in white during the flowering period. In the present project we will provide knowledge of how to control growth of Anthriscus sylvestris, and how to restore agricultural production capacity and landscape quality. These will be based on knowledge of biological traits and vulnerable growth stages of Anthriscus sylvestris and knowledge of which actions forms that fits best for different stakeholder groups. The project is initiated by the North Norwegian Agricultural Council due to the large impact A. sylvestris has on agr iculture production and landscape. The project was given priority after a wide process which included representatives from local businesses, agricultural industry, county governors, the agricultural advisory services, universities and research institutes.
