SmartTES brings together different partners working in the fields of energy efficient building design, timber engineering and construction and building services with different experience and
knowledge of building in different climate regions throughout Eu rope. SmartTES builds up on the previous TES EnergyFacade research project and continues the development of a prefabricated timber construction system for the energy efficient modernisation of buildings. The activities aim at new innovative, ecofriendly a nd resource efficient, cost competitive products, processes
and services for the retrofitting sector in Europe. One objective is to enhance the marketability of wood and wood based products in an upcoming building modernisation sector. The research result s support the transformation from traditional production to a knowledge based method with an enlarged portfolio of sustainable products and services. Concerning the yet rather low activities in building modernisation in some European countries, the projec ts strengthens the technology leadership of the partners and contributes to the sustainable use of renewable raw materials.
The contribution of innovative SME partners in the consortium guarantees the implementation of new innovative modernisation methods .
