In this project a high efficient modularized multi-phase PM generator will be designed and build. Research within superconductors to be used in AC electrical machines will be initiated.
A lab-setup for characterisation of losses in superconductors based on MgB2 and YBCO will be build. Material for thermal insulation and methods of cooling will be investigated.
Modular multi-phase PM Generator concepts will be evaluated, both with classical distributed windings and concentrated windings. Redundancy and r eplacement issues are important. A concept will be chosen and a full-scale prototype will be build.
Control software for magnetic coupled as well as not magnetic coupled multi-phase machines will be developed. The complete drive will be thoroughly test ed in lab.
