EERA CCS JP (www.eera-ccs.eu) was officially launched at the SET-Plan
conference in Brussels in November 2010. As of February 2012 the joint
programme has 39 members from the more than 12 countries. There are four
Norwegian partners in EERA CCS JP: NIVA, SINTEF, IRIS and IFE. IFE got
funding from CLIMIT for their participation last year.
The EERA CCS JP has two sub-programs: 1. CO2 Capture 2. CO2 storage.
SINTEF is mainly active in sub-programme 1 while IRIS and NIVA are
actively involved in sub-programme 2.
The aim of the EERA CCS JP is to align European research efforts in order
to achieve large scale deployment of CCS through
1. cost competitive and energy efficient CO2 capture methods and
processes
2. confidence in storage technologies based on subsur face knowledge and
understanding.
All the Norwegian partners have been actively involved in the establishment
of the JP and have contributed in the preparation of the first draft of the
detailed Description of Work (DoW) for each of the two sub-programs.
The CCS JP is now in the process of establishing a governance structure
that in addition to the Steering Committee (all members), the Management
Board (with 3 people) consists of a Programme and Priorities Task Force
(PPTF) where we foresee active partici pation from Norwegian partners. The
Norwegian partners will have a strong involvement in the EERA CCS JP and
promote Norwegian interests whenever relevant.
SINTEF, IRIS and NIVA seek funding for
*travel/accommodation for two Steering Committee meetings p er year
*travel/accommodation for one focus workshop per year
*travel/accommodation for participation in the CCS JP task force (one
meeting pr. year)
*review/update of JP material (define priorities, deliverable, activities,
strategic direction and link t o other EU forums)
*national coordination and dissemination
