Barents Sea Ice sheet - insights into the climatic sensitivity of marine based ice sheets

The main topics to be discussed are - Evidence for former ice streams - Patterns of deglaciation; rapid or gradual? Single or multiple episodes of ice retreat? - Relationship between marine-based and land-based sectors of the ice sheet - Subglacial drain age - Chronology - How to incorporate new geological data into a model of a multi-dome configuration with fast-flowing ice streams in fjords - Numerical ice sheet models struggle to model ice streams - Numerical ice sheet models - incorporation of pres ent glacial processes, challenges We aim to invite research groups that have ongoing or planned research projects in the following fields on Svalbard: Past disintegration of the marine based Barents Sea Ice sheet, Description of present glacial processes in order to improve glaciological modeling and marine based ice sheet models.
