NWPT 2012 - 24th Nordic Workshop on Programming Theory

Tildelt: kr 45 269

The NWPT series of annual workshops is a forum bringing together programming theorists from the Nordic and Baltic countries, but also from elsewhere. The previous editions were held in Uppsala (1989, 1999, and 2004), Aalborg (1990), Göteborg (1991 and 199 5), Bergen (1992 and 2000), Åbo (1993, 1998, 2003, and 2010), Aarhus (1994), Oslo (1996 and 2007), Tallinn (1997, 2002 and 2008), Lyngby (2001 and 2009), Copenhagen (2005), Reykjavík (2006), Västerås (2011). The format of the workshop is oriented towards young researches to give them a forum to present and to discuss their ongoing research and to offer them the opportunity to build scientific contacts and networks. The contributions are selected on the base of extended abstracts and the best contributio ns are selected after the workshop for publication in a high-standard international journal. The benefits of organizing an international scientific conference usually go beyond the event itself, which is of course also most important. A well-organized, w ell-advertized conference can be expected to boost international collaboration, resulting in joint papers and joint project proposals, for example, for EU-funding. Bergen and Norway become better known and more attractive for young researchers, leading to better recruitment of MSc- and PhD-students in the field.
