Personal visiting research grant for Professor Shixiao Fu from Shanghai Jiao Tong University

SINTEF Fisheries and Aquaculture have had regular collaboration with Professor Shixiao Fu at Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) since he was a post doctoral fellow working on fish farm hydrodynamic funded by the Research Council funded project INTELLIST ERUCT and a part of the Centre for Ships and Ocean Structures. At that time he developed a hydroelasticity method to analyze the dynamic responses of the floating collar in waves by accounting for the interactions between fluid, structural deformation and relative motions between each module. Professor Shixiao Fu has since continued with research related to large spatial flexible structures. Recent years he has carried out experiments on dynamic response of floater and net, and has PhD students involved in both numerical and experimental research on response of floating fish farms. SINTEF Fisheries and Aquaculture is interested in continuing and strengthening this collaboration with SJTU and are looking for possibilities to develop joint research and p rojects. The purpose of this application is to further develop the collaboration with Professor Shixiao Fu and his research team by making is possible for him to visit us for a period of six months during 2013. It will also on a later stage be looked into the possibility of visit from PhD students and other personnel form the research group members of Professor Fu at Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
