Climate Change & Situated Simulations. Humanistic Approach to Visualization and Simulation of Climate Change in Situated and Sensory media.

The primary aim of the ClimSim-project is to explore the potential of creating situated simulations (mobile augmented reality solutions) in order to visualize past and future changes in climate conditions, for use on specific a locations with smartphones and tablets. The simulations are targeting pedagogical use in schools as well as general mediation to the public at large. This will be achieved by producing a working prototype, a proof?of?concept application, which will be tested with real users on a sp ecific site (downtown Oslo). The design of the applicastion will have an intuitive user interface for navigation between: parameter controls, models and time periods. Further, the ClimSim pre-project will produce a sustainable roadmap and specification fo r real implementation of a generic ClimSlim-application, which can be used to simulate and visualize climate change (alterations in vegetation, weather, sea level and living) on any given Norwegian location. Finally, we will establish collaboration with a serious applicant for the upcoming KLIMAPRO call.
