Frequently Asked Questions across eGovernment

Citizens are increasingly relying on eGovernment services to deal with the duties towards government and to use the government services, such as paying taxes, or applying for kindergarten. Many of these services are evolving and need explanations to be use d correctly.Accordingly there are a number of lists of frequently asked questions provided to help the citizens. The problem to be addressed in this proposal is to establish a search engine functionality to automatically harvest, and present FAQ lists to cover a substantial part of the public sector content in Norway. The idea of the eFAQ project is in brief to extend the capacity of the eGovMon crawler to cover national FAQ sources and explore efficient ways to process and present the results from a searc h in FAQ lists. A selection of already harvested FAQ lists is provided at http://faq1.tingtun.no/faq_search/.The demonstrator will show how a list of questions is generated based on search terms entered by the user. When additional terms are then the list is dynamically shortened. This idea has evolved from the eGovMon project based on a municipal information service need and the eGovMon web crawler technology. The need for more effective ways to inform and guide citizens is growing with the increasing num ber and the complexity of services provided by government.Today citizens often need to have profund knoweledge about the government organisation to understand where to ask. Therefore people often turn to the municipality as the closest government agency. T his topic is also one of the prioritised areas of the recently published Meld. St. 23,(2012-2013), Melding til Stortinget, Digital agenda for Norge IKT for vekst og verdiskaping. The crawler technology from eGovMon has been further developed to provide a general search engine service for municipal web sites.A first installation of the Tingtun search will be deployed in Larvik soon. The current development version is available at:http://test.larvik.kommune.no/
