One of the cornerstones of independent living is being able to manage everyday activities -- be it IADL (Instrumental Activities of Daily Living ), ADL (Activities of Daily Living ) or PADL (Personal Activities of Daily Living ). This includes the (suppor ted) ability to plan and conduct these. The overall goal of the MANAGE project is to support health related issues through AT that assists the target groups in daily living. Such support will benefit the primary users of the AT themselves, but also their carers (reduction of stress and worries) and the society in general (increased opportunities to offer well-functioning supported housing). The MANAGE-project will address these challenges by developing, testing and trialling a calendar and a daily reminde r and communication service that is (1) operable for persons with cognitive disability themselves, and (2) that enables integration towards other services that may be necessary for independent living, such as "instant contact" with carer when needed, and procedural support just-on-time, also when needed, that (3) offers a gradual shift towards more carer-supported modes of operation when the primary user's abilities decline (elderly person in both of our target groups), and that (4) are personalized and a dapt to the user preferences and needs. The main primary end user equipment will be an Android tablet PC. Integration towards monitoring services for formal and informal carers (health personnel, family) will be implemented as part of a web interface desi gned for this purpose. This MANAGE proposal is thus in line with the objectives of the FI-Star call's technical requirements (Category 1: Strengthen the technology basis -- Reminder services for patients). The focus of our contribution is on the developm ent of support on use-cases for smart appliances supporting remote monitoring over the Internet.
