IMERSO Support for H2020 Application- Open Disruptive Innovation Scheme - Phase 1

IMERSO is a young IT hardware company in Oslo promoting the use of last-generation Virtual Reality (VR) technology in Enterprise and Public Service. Our team, counting with M.Sc., PhD and Post-Doc researchers, is building a unique positioning system for upcoming commercial VR headsets. It enables experts and regular consumers alike to be immersed in virtual worlds without hassle, or having to set up complicated and expensive equipment. This will open the door for new types of applications and services in areas where VR has never been used: such as in Healthcare (socialization of elders) and Education (enhanced-learning apps). In order to clarify IMERSO's value proposition and business model, the team seeks to apply for the EU H2020 ODI Phase 1 grant. Under this grant, the main objectives are to conduct a market study to identify prospective customers and understand their needs, establish pilot-projects with a user-driven development focus, engage with strategic partners who can become part of IMERSO's value chain and offer assistance in our technology development, conduct a feasibility study of our intended system architecture, and develop an IPR strategy. This information will be essential to create a well-defined business plan with a realistic cost-structure. This will also enable our team to identify the key technical features that allow for fast prototyping, product demonstration, and attracting private investment and pilot-customers. IMERSO wishes to use Forskninsradet support (PES2020) for writing a high-quality application for the EU Open Disruption Innovation scheme (Phase 1), and submit it before the 18.03.2015 cut-off date. PES2020 funding is intended to partly cover salary expenses of the application writer, the costs of an external review, and related meetings/travel expenses.
