Training and Mobility Network for the Economic Analysis of Conflict (TAMNEAC)

Tildelt: kr 0,46 mill.

The project is coordinated by Deutsches Institut für Wirtschaftsforschung (DIW) and has 7 additional beneficiaries. In addition, there are 8 associated partners, including private sector actors, ensuring the fellows have a broad range of experiences and resources at their disposal. The project period was from 1st January 2011 through 31st December 2014. Commission grant reference number: 263905. Although it has received some increased attention in recent years, the economic analysis of conflict is an under-researched topic, and by investing in this training-through-research area, Europe will be preparing a group of young individuals to assume positions of responsibility in the future, whether in academia, in the private sector, or with international organizations. In order to achieve its overall objective, TAMNEAC has 4 specific operational goals; 1) Training: develop fellows into professionals and researchers versed in rigorous methodologies and in the transmission of research-based knowledge into effective policies and policy advice 2) Mobility: facilitate skill-building secondments that will ensure the internationality of fellows' experiences, including mobility to conflict-affected countries and to policy partners within international governmental, and nongovernmental organizations 3) Research: invest in future European capacities needed in economic analysis of conflict and simultaneously close gaps in knowledge that persist 4) Sustainability: create a lasting network of professionals and researchers that interact on topics surrounding the solution of conflict long beyond the end of the network's funding period. The PRIO fellow is Mr. Primus Chi, citizen of Cameroon, implementing his doctoral study during the period for which IS-TOPP support is sought: 01.09.11-31.08.14. The title of Chi's dissertation is "Maternal and reproductive health and armed conflicts in sub-Saharan Africa: A disaggregated study approach". Submission is expected during spring 201
