KIFEE 2016-2018

Kyoto International Forum for Energy and Environment (KIFEE) er et Japansk-Norsk forsknings- og undervisningsnettverk som er utviklet på bakgrunn av Kyotoprotokollen og den Japansk-Norsk bilaterale avtalen om teknologisk samarbeid fra 2004. KIFEE fokuserer fire spesifikke områder relatert til temaet bærekraft: - Elektrolyse og avanserte uorganiske materialer - Prosessteknologi - Avanserte biologiske materialer - Utdanning før økt bærekraft KIFEE ledes av to parallelle ledergrupper i Japan (LG-J) og Norge (LG-N). LG-J har representanter fra 5 høyt rangerte universiteter og ett forskningsinstitutt (AIST) i Japan. I tillegg deltar flere andre Japanske universiteter og forskningsinstitutter aktivt. LG-N har representanter fra tre universiteter og to forskningsinstitutter i Norge. KIFEE-nettverket omfatter også industripartnere i begge land. I perioden ble nye partnere knyttet til prosjektet, inkl. University of Tokyo, Nagoya Institute of Technology, NIMS and Ehime University. Videre ble sentra (SFF, SFI, FME) og strategiske satsingsområder tilknyttet KIFEE. KIFEE har i prosjektperioden i større grad prioritere mobilitet av studenter og forskere innen de fire temaene. KIFEE-9 ble arrangert i Kyoto 7-10 Mars, med ca. 50 norske deltakere, og ca. 150 japanske. Program: http://9thkifee.doshisha.ac.jp. KIFEE-10 ble arrangert på Hurtigruten 5-8 Oktober 2018 med ca 55 norske og 40 japanske deltakere Som en del av prosjektet er det opprettet 7 KIFEE-professorater. Disse er beskrevet på nettsiden https://www.ntnu.edu/web/kifee/kifee-professors-2016-2018. Mobilitetsprogrammet har resultert så langt i utveksling begge veier: 12 studente og 6 forskere.

The Kyoto International Forum for Energy and Environment (KIFEE) is a Japan-Norway research network developed on the basis of the Kyoto Protocol and the Japan-Norway Bilateral Agreement on Technological Cooperation (2004). KIFEE specifically addresses the sustainability issue through four targeted areas: - Electrolysis and advanced inorganic materials - Process engineering - Advanced biological materials - Education for sustainable development KIFEE is managed by two parallel leader groups in Japan (LG-J, see 1.1.e.) and Norway (LG-N), respectively. LG-J has representatives from 5 major (highly ranked) universities and one research institute (AIST) in Japan, and several other Japanese universities and institutes are actively participating in the network. LG-N has representatives from three universities and two research institutes in Norway. The KIFEE network also includes industrial partners in both countries. A successful continuation of KIFFE requires support to maintain the KIFEE symposia every 18 months. Secondly, centres (SFF, SFI, FME) and strategic areas will be associated with KIFFE. Thirdly, mobility within research and education related to the four target areas of KIFEE, collectively targeting the sustainability issue.
