DISTRIBUTE: Innovating multimodal and distributed interactions for human-centred, safe and adaptive health care systems.

Tildelt: kr 0,50 mill.

DISTRIBUTE posits that there is a critical need to address how to resourcefully design, develop and deploy consistent and state of the art user-interfaces for modern hospitals by taking advantage of technologies capable of realizing multimodal and distributed interaction that are adapted to people's needs, capabilities and collaborative contexts. This requires a radical approach to developing hospital ICT solutions based on separating concerns as an orchestration of services, which separates user interface technologies (such as screens, speakers, input devices and other sensors) from operating systems (such as DIPS reporting systems and technical diagnostic equipment). The lighthouse project will make all hospital interaction technologies uniquely available through computer networks as a dynamic, adaptive resource for developers and innovation incubators milieus. Knowledge of hospital-specific interaction, human perspectives and preferences will be decisive in developing user-interface platforms and design frameworks enabled to mediate and adapt evolving hospital ICT systems. The project will demonstrate the innovation in a series of exemplars of next generation multimodal and distributed interactions for hospitals developed in this multidisciplinary, iterative research and innovation project where user-participation, design-driven innovation and systematic technology exploration are the main drivers. The proposal answers the call for digital health services and digital collaboration.
