Industrial metallic and oxide waste, ores and effluents will be supplied by the industrial partners to be processed for recovering metallic nanoparticles using a biological approach.
Two main approach are considered and will be optimized to achieve the mail goal:
1. An upstream process, which consists into designing the process so that the raw materials are adapted to the bacterias, and evaluating the bacterial mechanisms
2. A downstream process, which aims for a long-term improvement by adapting the bacterial strains for enhanced recovery.
The best recovery processes from concrete effluents will be subsequently tested at pilot-scaleto evaluate the up-scalability of the process.
In the meantime, nanoparticles recovered both at lab-scale and industrial pilot scale will be evaluated by the partners within different application areas.
Environmental aspects, safety and social acceptance will also be considered.
