Co-creation of value in Public service delivery

The project will develop conceptual understandings and empirical knowledge of value co-creation in public services. The project will empirically explore and evaluate six approaches that potentially enable co-creation of value in public services, and analyse the consequent individual and societal value. At the heart of this will be an examination of the tension between social values at the societal level and individual value for individual service users. In line with the work program, the project will focus on social inclusion, and explore approaches to co-creation of value within public service domains crucial to social inclusion: 1) Immigration and inclusion, and 2) Inclusion related to dropout challenges within education among youths. The following six approaches to co-creation of public value will be explored and analyzed: 1. Social audit and participatory policy making/budgeting 2. Service blue-printing 3. Innovation labs 4. Open platforms and big data 5. Structural relationships 6. Digital service delivery The findings from these empirical studies will then be shared with our commercial partners, in the form of a series of service design consultancies who will each be invited to transform this knowledge in order to design a new mode of public service delivery.
