Mender Phase 2

The overall aim of the Mender SME Phase 2 project is to upscale, pilot and prepare for the commercialisation of our innovative solution for user friendly and vendor independent platform for the 'over the air' (OTA) software and security updates for devices forming the Internet of Things (IoT). Our end users, the creators of IOT connected devices, embedded system developers (ESD), currently must create and maintain the software that runs on these devices and ensure all security patches are installed as soon as possible. Hence ESDs need a secure and reliable means of connecting to their devices over the internet to update software and install security 'patches'. Unfortunately, due to lack of opportunity and existing solutions most EDS develop their own 'home-grown' solutions which in most cases lack even the most basic security functionality like encrypted transfer, identity management and integrity checks. Mender will provide them with a low-cost solution that focuses on ease of use and ensures that the necessary security checks are in place and maintained. To ensure the integrity, security and prompt updating of IoT devices. The Mender project will move our current prototype technology (TRL6) to a level where it can be launched onto the global markets. Now we seek to develop a Commercialisation Plan (CP) which will enable us to implement our Business Innovation Plan (BIP) which will be created in the SME Phase 2 project. As our proposed Phase 2 project will centre on our validated technology, most our tasks will be focused commercialisation activities (CAs): - Technology Maturation - Large-scale Piloting together with ESD end-users - Support and Distribution - Commercialisation - Dissemination and Communication - Innovation Management and Business Innovation Plan Development
