Dementia diagnostics and treatment: from research to clinic and from clinic to research - Sept 25 and 26, 2017 -Oslo: Oslo Congress Center

Tildelt: kr 0,14 mill.

The Nordic Network in Dementia Diagnostics (NIDD) is a network of eight Memory Clinics in five Nordic countries and Lithuania was established in 2009 with financial help from NordForsk, which is a Nordic research board with responsibility for cooperation on research and training of researchers in the Nordic region. The funding from NordForsk has now been terminated, but the network is still co-operating by means available support from the Kavli foundation (Kavlis allmennyttige fond I Bergen). The NIDD plan to arrange a research conference with a primary focus to describe the validity and usefulness (in clinical practice) of various diagnostic tools and prevention of dementia according to new research studies, partly carried out in the Nordic countries. We find it of importance to have a conference with active interaction between researchers and clinicians, because to implement new and effective diagnostic tools ?the clinicians voice should be heard?, as to the question whether the diagnostic tools can be implemented in daily clinical practice. It will also be of interest for the researcher to have input from clinicians to include thoughts how results from research can be translated to clinical practice. The target group for the conference will therefore be Nordic researchers in the field of dementia prevention, diagnostics and treatment and health personnel that work in memory clinics (which are highly specialized out-patients clinics) in the Nordic countries. All memory clinics from Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Iceland and Finland will be invited, not only those taking part in the network. In that way we will reach both researchers and clinicians. We estimate that 120 people will attend this meeting.
