Deep Sea International Consortium Pilot Project

Tildelt: kr 54 999

Today's oil and gas subsea vessels have Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs) with a range of sensors and cameras that can collect information from the deep sea. The aim of the Deep Sea International Consortium Pilot Project is to explore possibilities for improving the knowledge of deep-sea habitats and ecosystems by using the subsea fleet, combining industry operations with scientific data collection. We also wish to find out what kinds of new and improved sensors could benefit both subsea industry operations and environmental monitoring. Runde Environmental Centre will bring together international players from oil and gas industry, subsea and service industry, universities, technology institutions and governments to promote discussion and partnership to increase the global knowledge of the deep sea environment. Brazil is a preferred partner for Norwegian international cooperation, particularly for research and innovation. The planned workshop in Rio de Janeiro will be a good opportunity to connect key personnel to crossover and collaborate for more effective and integrated deep sea data gathering and analysis.
