Specialized Content Knowledge for Teaching Mathematics

A large body of research concurs that mathematics teachers need a kind of mathematical knowledge that is specific to the professional work of teaching mathematics, and this knowledge influences the quality of teaching as well as students' learning of mathematics. A review of research indicates that the development of measures has potential to productively inform the ongoing efforts to conceptualize this specialized content knowledge for teaching mathematics. The proposed project aims at contributing to this continued conceptualization of specialized content knowledge for teaching mathematics by applying a digital space for developing, discussing and evaluating items.
