International Partnership in Information Technology

Alternativ tittel: Internasjonalt partnerskap innen informasjonsteknologi

Tildelt: kr 4,5 mill.

The IPIT project has contributed to: a) A long-term strengthening internationalization of bachelor, master and PhD students b) Intensifying international research in IT, with a specific focus on Software Engineering and IT education research IPIT has achieved the following objectives: 1) Establish sustainable long term strategic research and education partnerships with the international partners to increase synergy and minimize clerical work 2) Increase quality and popularity of IDI international offers at Master level and increase the number of incoming students 3) Increase the number of outgoing NTNU students with the final goal to reach 40% 4) Stronger connection between research and education. Students need to become more aware of research processes by acting as young researchers and to be part of experiments.

The main objective of the International Partnerships for Excellent Education and Research in Information Technology (IPIT) is to develop a highly visible international consortium to share best practices and, build and strengthen research and training cooperation among partners in Information Technology (IT) Education in general and Software Engineering in particular. IPIT will build on top of Excited and will put Norway in the forefront of Innovative and International IT education and software engineering research and education. The goal of IPIT is to enhance the learning and scientific level in the study programs connected to the center through increased student and teacher International collaboration and research. The main grant awarded with thematic relevance to the IPIT project application is: SFU Excellent Information Technology Education (Excited prosjekt 80076) (NOKUT, 6 800 KKr. per year, 1.1.2017 to 31.12.2021, NTNU and NORD). Cooperation Institutions are: 1. The Georgia Institute of Technology (Prof. Mark Guzdial, Contextualized Support for Learning center) 2. Tsinghua University, China (Associate Professor Xiaoying Bai, Department of Computer Science and Technology) 3. Nanjing University, China (Prof. He (Jason) Zhang, Software Engineering and Architecture Laboratory) In addition to project management and dissemination, the main work packages are WP2) Reciprocal Mobility of Administrative and Scientific Personnel; WP3) Reciprocal Mobility of students; WP4) Empirical studies. The project has a total budget of 5.624 MNOK of which 4.5 MNOK requested. Of vital importance are: 1) Relations to society and industry; 2) Recruitment of women, gender balance and gender perspectives; 3) ethical concerns. The project has ambitious dissemination plans in the most prestigious conferences and journals in Computer Science Education and Software Engineering.
