COLLECTION OF STRUCTURAL AND SEDIMENTOLOGICAL DATA AT SARSØYRA

The proposed fieldwork aims at a detailed assessment of outcrops located in northern Sarsøyra to better constrain the tectonic and sedimentary evolution of the Forlandsundet Basin. The fieldwork will focus on a beach section and a hitherto undescribed basin-bounding fault zone. It will include: - A detailed description and logging of the exposed sedimentary strata - Measurement of structural data, including fractured clasts - Detailed description, structural logging and sampling of the fault zone - Measurement of structural features associated with the fault zone - Systematic sampling of fault products in the fault zone - Comparison of deformedlithologies within the fault zone to basement lithologies exposed in the south close to the basin boundary
