Geographical Islands FlexibiliTy or Geographical Islands Flexibility Trading

The project is aiming to demonstrate the more relevant solutions to the islands that need them. That is the reason why the project intent to make a demonstration on 3 islands that will be lighthouse islands for the solutions that will be demonstrated on their land. Moreover, these islands will also be following islands for the solutions that will not have been demonstration on their land but on the other demonstration site. One the one hand, one demonstration will take place in Norway, on the Hinnøya island. With a high share of energy mix already decarbonised thanks to an electric mix largely hydraulic, the stakes of decarbonisation on this island is more related to transport than RES integration. That is the reason why Hinnøya will demonstrate the integration of systems related to the synergy between the transportation network and the electric grid. This demonstration will be two-fold including the terrestrial and the maritime transport as means to add flexibility to the grid and to be used as storage devices. The island will be a follower for the solutions provided for the other demonstration site. On the other hand, another demonstration will take place in France and Italian islands. With a high use of fossil fuel in its energy mix, this island will demonstration the solutions of the project that will allow the integration of higher share of RES in the grid. In order to focus on the most impactful solutions, this island will only be a following island concerning the transport synergies and will study the relevance of its implementation it in the future. The project aims at a large replicability of the solutions that will be developed why the project includes islands that will study the possibility to include the solutions in their systems during a replicability study. Moreover, a replication board will be built during the project to exchange with the partners of the project and express their needs.
