PES2020 Financial Support for Writing Applications for ACT Cooperative Corporation to Participate in Horizon 2020's SME Instrument Phase 1

Tildelt: kr 49 999

The ACT mobile shopping app is potentially the most hands-on solution to impacting climate change and social responsibility to date. Up to one-third of human-driven greenhouse gas emissions today come from food production and distribution. With more than 80% of household shopping spent without consideration for sustainability, and Europe’s food retail market alone worth 2 trillion euro, the need and potential for a solution are clear. ACT Cooperative Corporation came about through the realization that urgent action on climate change requires global-scale, bottom-up, market-based collaboration. To achieve this, it’s founders are developing a software platform which enables and incentivizes shoppers to make the most environmentally- and socially-responsible purchases. By using this collective purchasing power to shift money into the hands of sustainably-minded producers, ACT aims to make sustainability the new competitive edge as it targets at least 3 out of 17 Sustainable Development Goals: Responsible Production and Consumption, Decent Work and Economic Growth, and Climate Action. While other sustainable and ethical shopping apps exist, none currently have the capacity to facilitate large-scale, timely collaboration needed to impact climate change. Nor do they integrate deeply into the gamut of shopping needs, making for an in-demand shopping tool. In this way, ACT attracts both sustainably-minded and mainstream consumers which is key to scaling up climate action. As ACT furthers R&D efforts and assesses the feasibility of its platform, we will be applying for the SME Instrument Phase 1 grant as part of the Horizon 2020 programme. Receiving PES2020 application writing support and guidance services towards this grant will greatly assist us throughout the intensive process and help position ACT as a highly eligible and competitive candidate for critical funding.
