The 6th International Feed Conference - Present and future Challenges (Feed2018)

Tildelt: kr 0,15 mill.

The sixth International Feed Conference (Feed 2018) is an international conference focusing on animal feed. The conference is the sixth edition of a series of conferences held biannually, and was first initiated by the European Union’s (EUs) leading references laboratories and research facilities in animal feed. This year’s conference is organised by the Institute of Marine Research (IMR), Section for feed safety, in collaboration with a steering committee consisting of representatives of the above mentioned reference laboratories. The focus of the feed conference is legislation in a fast developing industry sector, analytical methods, and risk assessment. Participants include representatives from EU reference laboratories on animal feeds, research institutes, the animal feed industry and NGOs. The conferences aims to bring together participants from different sectors, and to share recent scientific advances in the feed area. Hosting the conference in Norway will give a unique opportunity to, in addition to agricultural feed production, also focus on aquaculture. The aquaculture sector is a fast growing food-producing sector with a rapid implementation of novel feed ingredients that requires new risk assessment and development of legislation. For example, new EU legislation on processed animal proteins, including insects, have been first implemented in aquaculture.
