A challenge related to the optical design of a retinal scanning camera is to create images of good contrast
and sharpness. The main challenge is back-scattered light from the cornea/lens, which will destroy the
signal/noise ratio. It is therefore important to establish an optical design which allows for separation of the
optical path of light into and out of the eye.
In this project multiple optical design direction will be explored, solving this problem.
Prototypes with the most promising optical designs will be built in cooperation with SINTEF and the external
optical manufacturing partner.
