A project consortium Change2Twin (coordinated by SINTEF Norway) is in the process of preparing a proposal targeting the H2020 call DT-ICT-03-2020 closing November 13, 2019. Change2Twin target the subtopic Smart modelling, simulation, and optimisation for digital twins. More specifically from the call text: Experimentation of novel modelling, simulation, and optimisation techniques, possibly combined with high-performance computing and data analytics, for digital twins covering the full lifecycle of products and systems. The experimentation in Change2Twin will be in the form of a set of pilot experiments included into the proposal, and experiments selected after open calls from the project for experiments. A partner in an experiment is typically an SME or slightly bigger company. An experiment will typically include both an end user and a technology provider and will be supported by the Change2Twin core partners both with respect to technology, administrative and business aspects. The use case support provided from Jotne and SINTEF will have the following content: • One of the digital resources available for experiments in Change2Twin is Jotne's EXPRESS Data Manager™ (EDM) that offers technology of Data Interoperability / Exchange / Sharing / Archiving. • Another technology (from SITNEF) to build on matches the recent extensions to step Part 42. Extensions that open for mathematically volumetric shape descriptions (trivariate splines) that a very well suited for representation of multi-material and variable material in Additive Manufacturing (AM). • These extensions pave the ways for digital twins for AM not supported by traditional boundary representation-based CAD. • These representations are also the basis for Isogeometric Analysis (IGA) that replaces the shape function of Finite Elements with B-splines thus introducing accurate shape representation in Finite Element Analysis.
