ONiO self powered sensing

ONiO AS is developing and manufacturing innovative smart sensors and radio technology as ultra-low power solutions not requiring a battery, disrupting the world of smart sensing. ONiO's key roadmap product is a sensor chip wireless micro-controller with energy harvesting (ONiO.zero), allowing multi-sensor measurements of essential parameters (e.g. vital signs in the case of medical uses). Alongside the ONiO.zero we hope building a robust, elastic, scalable and easily deployable database and data analytics will enable new products and massive growth in IoT, medical, automotive, industrial, smart cities, wearables/clothing and consumer electronics markets. Currently, ONiO does not have in-house expertise in antenna design for farfield multiband RF energy harvesting. However, this hardware asset (and embedded know-how) is critical for the success of our product, so we need to internalize this expertise by recruiting a resource with a strong academic track-record in developing and testing fully integrated energy harvesting components. The SME Innovation Associate programme project is thus necessary for this plan. The final antenna design(s) to be led by the Innovation Associate will need to meet our current specification criteria for a battery-less chip, which are already stricter than the observed performance of state-of-the-art systems being developed for academic research.
