Strengthen Sustainable Urban development and exploitation of Nature-based solutions through Research and Innovation Staff Exchange

Nature-based solutions (NBS) has been recognised internationally a suitable and popular solutions for sustainable urban development in the contexts of urban storm- and wastewater management, restoration of the urban environment, liveability, health and resilience to the challenges in the climate and society. Although the multi-benefits, barriers remain in the promotion of NBS such as lacking an integrated and strategic approach of urban planning with sustainable management of urban natural resources and their potentials for reuse and green economy; lacking the finance and investment, and lacking communication, dissemination and engagement of publicans, media, non-professional groups and vulnerability groups (e.g. females and poor income dwellings). The objectives of the project SUNRISE are to enhance the interdisciplinary and cross-sectoral collaboration of policy, institution with social, engineering science and industries, consolidate the knowledge and capacity in planning, design and implementation of NBS, develop methods for socio-economic assessment of NBS effects in short- and long-term perspectives, and develop green business model and strengthen the communication with authorities, stakeholders and disseminate to different user groups in order to support and foster the future implementation of nature-based solutions and green infrastructure solutions, strengthen the partnership and collaboration between research, education, public and private and public sectors through exchange of research and innovation staff, sharing knowledge and experience on sustainable, innovative and smart solutions in regard to preservation of the natural environment, mitigate the impacts of climate change, reduce water pollution, promote resources recycling and reuse, increase energy efficiency, and reduce emission to urban environment, as a ultimate goal to contrite to the achievement of the UN's SDGs.
