The European Green Deal is the roadmap for making the EU's economy sustainable by turning environmental challenges into opportunities across all policy areas and making the transition inclusive for all. The SOILSTEAM project aims at the call; “restore biodiversity and cut pollution” and “Realising a zero pollution ambition and toxic free environment” SoilSteam International is an SME located in Sandefjord, Norway, approx 100km south of Oslo. The aim of the SOILSTEAM 2 year project is to bring the 4th generation verified prototype, large scale soil-steaming machine, designated SoilSteam™ the remaining way from current TRL 5/6 to TRL 8. The machine has proven it can replace the use of pesticides to eliminate weeds, fungi and nematodes in agriculture on a global basis. This is done by steaming the soil 30 cm deep, in an environmentally friendly way. The technology has the potential to reduce the use of toxic pesticides dramatically and meets several of UN Sustainable Development Goals, in particular #12 “Responsible consumption and production” and #15 “Life on land”. The SOILSTEAM project is planned for 24months duration and with 4 workpackages. The key team will be fully dedicated to this project only, giving 264 ManMonths (MM) available with the current staff of employees. In addition, when the project is funded by EIC, additional staff will be hired to allow even more manpower in the resource pool. The IP is secured by 2 patents and registered trademark. SSI company can document the technical and financial strength to take on this large project. The co-financing part of the project is already secured, and everything is prepared for a successful grant agreement with the Commission. A competent steering committee will overlook the project and the project management. An international expert Advisory Board is assisting in the progress of the project.
