Smart energy-Transition by User-driven Access to Renewable Technologies in existing buildings

Tildelt: kr 49 999

Project STUART is aiming at development and testing in living lab environment with consecutive demonstration in real environment cost-effective low-carbon technologies-based solution to manage energy within existing buildings improving performance of legacy equipment available in the building taking into account user preferences and requests. Th project is focusing on solution focused onto Nordic countries, because of the region specifics requiring special approach due to cold climate conditions. Applicability of the provided technological solution for the moderate and hot climate will be evaluated in terms of modelling of business cases covering energy performance as well as cost effectiveness of technologies required. In the centre of the proposal is novel smart energy management system STUART able to accommodate wide range of domestic appliances and building energy systems and on the other hand able to interact with the grid providing flexibility and efficiency by managing generation consumption and storage available in the building. STUART solution is targeted at existing buildings energy system cost effective upgrade taking into account main residential buildings typologies - namely single and multifamily buildings – by utilising high level of automation based on self-learning algorithms and improving this way building users comfort and increasing their satisfaction. Project impact will be measured by a set of KPIs related to the smart readiness indicator according revised EPBD.
