The aim of the project is the quantification and chemical identification of SMPs in Svalbard Islands to better comprehend their transport and pathways through the atmospheric compartment. The role of SMPs global long-scale transport and potential sources in this remote and sensitive polar area will be investigated. The samples will be collected in aerosol and snow samples to study SMPs spatial and temporal variability in the atmosphere. Samples will be collected in Gruvebadet and Austre Brøggerbreen sites. Abundance, chemical composition, shape, size, density, and weight of SMPs will be investigated to better improve the knowledge and behavior of these emerging pollutants in the atmospheric compartment in Arctic.
