Automotive Lidar based EXploration of glacIer Caves, RiS ID 11600

Tildelt: kr 42 651

The goal of ALEXIC is to thoroughly test our newly developed sensor box including the automotive lidar Ouster OS1-64 in an Arctic environment in order to assess the potential of recently emerging automotive lidar technology for several geophysical applications in the Arctic. We want to investigate the limitations and potentials of automotive lidars compared to the terrestrial lidar scanner Riegl VZ-6000 and identify potential new applications of automotive lidar systems in geosciences. We developed a novel sensor box customized for this lidar which will enable to measure several geophysical processes with very high spatial and temporal resolution. This will be applied in the 3D Mapping and monitoring of glacier caves.
