Sedimentary facies analysis and architecture of alluvial fan systems within rift basin, Billefjorden Trough, Svalbard

A field campaign in summer 2021 aiming at collection of data which will result in sedimentary logs, geological sketches, measurements of orientation of bedding and records of paleo-transport indicators from three different study sites: in the area of Petuniabukta, Pyramiden and Lykteneset. Additionally, ground- and drone-based photogrammetry will allow for a creation of digital outcrop models, using structure-from-motion algorithms. These models will be used for detailed mapping of lateral extensions of individual facies bodies. The results will be compared to the depositional styles, the sizes, and the positions of the alluvial fans at the more established field site of outcrop in the slope of the Pyramiden mountain.
