UV effect on the carbon cycle – Global Environmental Effects Assessment Panel

Tildelt: kr 0,28 mill.

-

The Environmental Assessment Panel (EEAP) provides advice to UNEP on ozone layer depletion, UV radiation and how the Montreal protocol is having an effect. This includes basic research question on the effect of UV radiation on biological processes. Recently interactions between ozone layer, UV and climate change has also been more in focus. There is interaction between the processes in the atmosphere, but UV radiation can also affect the carbon cycle and greenhouse gas emissions in the biosphere. The project manager, Bente Foereid has been asked to participate in in the assessment as she has published in this area. She has already participated in an online meeting for an update report. There will be one meeting next year to produce an update, and then two meetings to produce a full report. Each time also a scientific review article will be published.
